Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods 2005 & Amendment 2016 – Section 9.1(2):
Employers must ensure workers are adequately trained to handle or transport Dangerous Goods.
NZS 5433 – Section 12.2: Each person shall be trained to familiarize with the general provisions of safe handling and transport of Dangerous Goods.
HSWA (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 – Regulation 4.5:
PCBUs must ensure every worker is trained to understand risks, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), PPE involved, and knowing what to do in an emergency.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Classify and Identify all 9 classes of Dangerous Goods correctly.
Mark and Label DG packages correctly for road transport.
Complete a compliant Shipper’s Declaration according to NZS 5433
Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to safely handle, store, and transport DGs.
Understand and manage Dangerous goods in Limited Quantities (DGLQ) and Excepted Quantities (EQ).
Segregate Dangerous Goods correctly when loading vehicles.
Identify, pack, mark, and label Lithium batteries for road transport—and determine if a declaration is required.
Respond to Dangerous Goods emergencies in the warehouse.
Determine appropriate packaging requirements for road transport of DGs according to their Packing Instructions.
